shatter

SHATTER:

Break or cause to break suddenly and violently into pieces.

Something fragile has the opportunity to be broken by almost anything. That is the same with dreams. A dream so fragile that even the slightest touch and it breaks into a million pieces. That is the nature of dreams, its fragility and susception to influence, change and destruction. In the end all dreams are extremely precious and fragile to its dreamer. They die or shatter at the slightest problem or touch. These dreams were meant to be but were forced out of existence due to the disintegration of its foundations and susception to outside influence. This dress aims to help take that concept forwards. The dress will be made from owers and then be frozen using liquid nitrogen. The nitrogen freezes the cells making the material extremely fragile and brittle and hence can be broken just with a slight amount of pressure. The idea is to showcase the brittleness and fragility of dreams and how easily they can be broken and destroyed by external pressures. The dream once broken can never be glued back together. It takes something that should have bought joy and happiness and breaks it into a million little pieces. It takes away the hope and love that was put into it in an instance and leaves one behind with microscopic fragments. The dream had been broken with volatility and passion, shattering and scattering fragments into a million shards, some small and microscopic, others large and chunky. The dress displays the idea that once a dream is broken there is no fixing it. The dream has gone and will eventually fade into oblivion, leaving behind maybe the faintest memory till even the host is gone.
This is the truest of dreams and its fragility. The slightest wrong touch and it can shatter. Removing all of ones hopes and aspirations and erasing them in an instance. Leaving behind this sense of no longer needing to live. It extinguishes the light at the end of the tunnel leaving the dreamer in the dark, alone and scared for he cannot see what lies ahead. And it is in that moment when he realizes that there’s nothing left for him out there. Because that is the true nature of dreams they only exist till the dreamer hopes them into existence and once the dreamer is done or the fragility of the dream causes it to fracture its existence is void and devoid of all life. Dreams break because they are fragile and precious to the person holding them and can splinter into a shower of microscopic fragments.
