Erupt
ERUPT:
Break out or burst forth suddenly and dramatically.
This concept further plays on the notion depicting the birth of the dream, like an empty water cup waiting to be filled with hopes and aspirations. While Evolve dealt with the internal and natural formation of dreams, Erupt depicts the interaction of the external and the internal in forming ones dreamscape. One of the theories on why we dreamed, penned by Sigmund Freud is that the dream is our subconscious letting us live out our deepest and truest desires. Those desires that were not achievable, or were looked down upon by society. This concept aims to dive into the internal eruption of the dream from inside the dreamer to seeing the sun for the first time. The idea of this came from the Indian festival of Holi and the images that are associated with the festival. The images showcase vibrant colors and plumes of colored powder ying though the air; the dress is a depiction of that vibrancy and celebration. It is the triumph of the dreamer to create something pure and good. Yet all dreams are in uenced by society. Hence this idea depicts how no matter how hard we try to have a pure dream at some point society comes in to colours our dream. Society has certain hopes and aspirations for the dreamer too and it is this interaction of what society wants and what the dreamer is trying to build that is portrayed through this dress. While the colour powder may represent the dream the action of it being thrown onto the dress depicts how society or an external factor plays a huge role in the way our dreams are formed and represented. It is the internal eruption of thoughts and ideas permeating through the conscious being and showcasing itself in its truest and most vulnerable form to society, for all to see and wonder at. The abstract staining pattern that is left behind or the soot left over from the powder is the dream. It depicts again the unpredictable and abstract nature of dreams. Though at the same time it also shows how dreams can be molded to look a certain way, by the way in which the colors are thrown onto the dress. This dream depicts all our values and beliefs. It tells us what kind of person we are and who we desire to become. It is the purest and most untainted form of oneself; a construct of what society has set in store for the dreamer and their future. This dress captures the interactions between the dreamer and the people around them whom help form and mold this dream to fruition and more.
