COMBUST:
Consumed by fire rapidly and uncontrollably.
All things must die. While ideas may be eternal the body must die and like the body dreams too have an expiration date. In Hinduism after ones death they are cremated. The act of cremation plays one of the most spiritual roles in life after death. Since Hinduism believes in the concept of rebirth they believe that the act of cremation carries ones soul into the afterlife and without the cremation there will be no rebirth. The fire acts as the cleansing mechanism that carries the pure soul into the heavens and thus the next life. The concept comes from that idea that once a dream is dead it leaves the body and goes on. This allows the person to create a new dream and lifts the burden of the old and dying dream. At the end if a dream isn’t fulfilled it becomes toxic and harmful. It grows and grows like a tumor reminding one of their failures and mistakes. Thus after a point one must kill their dream, to be free of the burden that it has become. The act of cremating the dress symbolizes the death of the dream and the movement onto something better. It acts as the burden being lifted from the person’s shoulders so that a new dream can come and take its place, and the life cycle of the dream will continue again till the new dream is ful lled or destroyed. The extremely flow- ey dress symbolizes the over burdening and fluidity of the dream while the fire acts as the purifying agent. In the Hindu culture while one mourns the dead for 4-13 days, at the same time this mourning period is also considered a time of remembrance. A time when we celebrate the life that was and the life that was lived. We think of death as a happy instance a moment when the should goes onto something better while the people left behind remember and celebrate the happy moments of the life that was. As we can see from history that without the complete death of a something nothing new can develop our flourish. It is only from the ashes that something new and better can arise and create a new found sense of beauty. This concept symbolizes the end of the dreams lifecycle, the cremation of the dream and its passage to afterlife. In the end there is nothing left behind and the burden is lifted of the dreamer. They are free from the nightmare that the dream became, a weight has been lifted of their shoulder and they can now rest in peace, there is no sadness in killing the dream this only the happiness of cutting away a cancerous tumor.
